Ipetumodu Agog As Oyetola Commissions Moro-Ipetumodu-Asipa-Yakoyo Roads

Ipetumodu, the headquarters of Ife North State Constituency in Osun State came alive on Thursday at the commissioning of Moro-Ipetumodu-Asipa-Yakoyo roads.

The venue of the programme was adorned with All Progressives Congress (APC) flags and banners bearing messages such as: IlreriOluwa Lekansi; Oyetola 4+4; We Appreciate you, Mr Gboyega Oyetola; You Love You Mr Governor; Thanks for rehabilitating our roads; among others.

However, security was beefed up in and around the market square as the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC);DSS ; Amotekun and other paramilitary personnel were on standby to ensure maximum security and hitch-free programme.

CityMirrorNews recalls that the Governor of the State, Mr Gboyega Oyetola had over a year approved the reconstruction of the Moro-Ipetumodu-Asipa-Yakoyo roads, which has been abandoned for about 45 years.


These roads are part of the major arteries of the Ife North as they link about seven communities including, Moro-Ipetumodu-Asipa-Yakoyoamong others together.

Speaking, during the commissioning, residents of Ife North State Constituency lauded the Governor on the rehabilitation of the roads.

The residents, while commending the governor’s effort, said it gives them a tremendous joy to see the rehabilitation of the roads.

Speaking with CityMirrorNews, Barr Kunle Oyatomi, Osun APC Spokesperson, appreciated the Governor saying people of the town will forever be grateful to the Governor.

Oyatomi who is the son of the soil described the road project as historical because since the creation of the constituency such a gigantic road project had never been done.

Describing Oyetola as a miracle worker, the APC Public Relations Officer said despite paucity of fund the people’s governor still deemed it fit come to the aide of his people by rehabilitating the roads after many years of abandonment.

“Despite the paucity of fund, following the current situation of thing occasioned with the COVID-19 pandemic, the governor still deemed it necessary to impact positively on the lives of our people by responding to their yearning.

“Moro-Ipetumodu-Asipa-Yakoyo roads are very historical because these road have been abandoned for more than 45 years. Seeing a state Governor to deem it fit for its reconstruction despite the meager resources I think that Governor could be well described as a miracle worker. ”

Echoing a similar view, the honourable representing Ife North state Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Hon Tunde Olatunji appreciated the state governor on behalf of his people saying, “Our governor has further proved that when the right people rule, people rejoice.”

Olatunji who described Governor Oyetola as one of the greatest blessings in Osun state, said: “We have been expecting the rehabilitation of this road for long.

The Chief Whip who was happy with the turn out of his people to welcome the Governor and his entourage said, “you can see the level of excitement in our people. They all trooped out to show appreciation to our amiable governor. That road is the number one priority in our Constituency. It is a thing of joy to see the fulfilment of that electoral promise.

“What we are witnessing today is historical because, in the history of Ife North State Constituency, there has never been a time a singular project that worth 835 million naira be awarded, be it state or federal government. So this is the biggest projects in the history of that Constituency

“As for me seeing this kind of good thing happening in my time, I am privileged to represent them. You cannot quantify the joy and happiness I feel and sense of fufilment. These are common goals that would impact everybody regardless of political and religious affiliations. Everybody is going to benefit from this project.”

Describing Governor Oyetola as a man of purpose, Olatunji asserted that history will never forget him, saying the people of Ife North have no regrets supporting Oyetola and voting for him.

In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Transport, Oluremi Omowaiye, said the road ought to have been completed earlier before now but due to situation of things occasioned by COVID-19 and Endsars Protest, saying despite that the road was completed within the time frame.

He reiterated the commitment of the stats government to complete the road down to Akinlalu community, saying the Governor had mandated him to go and measure the road assuring that work will start at no distance time.

Omowaiye recalled that the newly rehabilitated road had been abandoned since 1976, saying it was the longest road project in the state.

He assured the residents that they would continue to enjoy the dividend of democracy under Oyetola’s administration.
