Oyetola Reduces Fines Rates For Okada Riders In Osun

—Commends Unions Of Their Supports

The State Government of Osun has ordered a reduction of road fines and rates on erring Okada riders in order to cushion the effect of the prevailing hard times on the transportation sector.

This disclosure was made by the Executive Secretary,Office of Transportation, Engr.Bilal Adiat during a 3-day sensitization talk with members of Osun Transport Marshal across the nine federal constituencies of the State.

Engr.Adiat,who represented the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Transport charged O-TRAM Marshal members to treat okada riders with courtesy without compromising their duties.

Meanwhile, the registration of over 33,000 thousand okada riders and the issuance of riders’ jackets and identification cards embarked upon by State Government of Osun is yielding positive results,as crime rate has reduced. The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Works and Transport, Engr. Hussein Toke Olaniyan made the statement in Osogbo during a meeting with seven unions of Okada Riders.

Engr. Toke Olaniyan used the medium to inform the unions that about twenty seven thousand jackets were still awaiting collection.

In his words of admonition to the union leaders,the Special Adviser enjoined them to desist from forcing their members to comply with government directives,but rather be persuasive in their approach.

During the meeting,the union leaders were unanimous in signifying their intention to endorse Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for his second term bid to enable him continue his good work.

It would be recalled that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola was the first to initiate the policy of Okada Riders’ registration with a view to checkmating the activities of men of the underworld using the platform to commit henious crimes.
