A group, ‘Owo Youth General Assembly’, a conglomeration of all the youth wings of Owo extraction, both home and abroad, has terminated the position of Mr. Banji Alabi Esq, who is also the Chairman, Governing Council of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo in Ondo state as Patron of the group.

Oyegoke Olaposi, President of the association who announced this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Akure said the termination was in line with the consistent display of insincerity and act of distrust as recorded by the association overtime.

The statement reads, “We hereby notify the general public of the immediate termination of Mr. Banji Alabi Esq. from the position of Patron which was conferred on him by the Owo Youth General Assembly, a conglomeration of all the Youth wings of Owo extraction, both home and abroad.

“One of the major reasons is the uncared manner at which Mr Alabi has been toying with the future of these young men and women who had mistakenly conferred on him a prestigious position of mentoring (Patron). It is sad and outrageous that he had successfully sow a seed of discord into the Association that was a shining example to other communities in the state before his appointment. He successfully polarized the Association to enable him orchestrate his used and dump strategy.

“After many promises were left unfulfilled and dreams turned hollow, the Association members registered their frustrations and he ordered the issuance of fake employment letters to Ten (10) youths last year. It is equally sad to note that, he, the Council Chairman ordered the retrieve of the letters from them after three months without any benefit or recourse to their emotions. He promised to reinstate them immediately the first phase of Covid-19 pandemic lock down was over but much to our surprise, he never leaved up to his billings rather he took pleasure in importing fresh people who are his cronies into the institution.

“The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo Governing Council Chairman has woefully failed in his side of agreement after luring most of our youths including those fired under his watch into his campaign group for re-election of Arakunrin Akeredolu, the Group tagged “Truth Teller” which was constituted by the Council Chairman himself on the promise again that he would consider the 10 of them after the election.

“The usual norm of self acclaimed leaders over the years is that prior to elections, youths are recognized as important for successful election and discarded when elections are over. Thus, promises made by Mr. Banji Alabi for the youths while engaging them prior to and during election are not fulfilled and all the hopes and dreams of these youngsters in living a better life through gainful employment and empowerment are dashed as he move on with his life having ‘used’ the youths for his selfish motives and personal aggrandizement.

“The association hereby disassociate from him and let the general public know his level of unwarranted inhumanity to man against fellow men and the good people of Ondo State, and Owo kingdom in particular.”
