….says Present Administration Is Passionate About Youth Development

Nigerian Youths have been admonished to see the inherent opportunities that abound in the country and endeavor to be good ambassadors of the country instead of engaging in sharp practices that could tarnish their image.

The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Public Health, Dr. Olasiji Olamiju stated this while delivering an address during the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS) week opening ceremony held at the University campus, Ile-Ife.

Olamiju who spoke as the Chairman of the event and an alumnus of the faculty, said, despite the series of challenges confronting the nation, Nigeria is still flowing with milk and honey, noting that with positive mindsets things will go well in the country.

He said: “You can become whatever you have determined to be, irrespective of any odds. I know some of you might be planning to fly out of the country after graduation, possibly to where you get millions as salary but the sad truth is, if you get paid 10 million as salary, you will also pay several millions as taxes.”

“Note this, never think Nigeria is worthless. It is our orientation that is bad. Go to any street or estate, the best houses you will see there were not built by people abroad.”

“What that means is, our country, regardless of the hurdles is still a land of opportunities flowing with milk and honey, but it takes positive mindsets and determination to see it.”

He reiterated further that the problem is not Nigeria, saying “most people don’t even know opportunities when they see it. That is why I summerized university education as a combination of packaged programmes that will enable you or anybody who had gone through it, to recognize opportunities before it passes you by.”

The Public Health expert said Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is passionately concerned about the welfare of youths which is why youths are well represented, both at the State and local levels.

“He believes so much in the can-do spirit of the youths and that is why we must all support him to succeed and get re-elected for another term”, he concluded.

Earlier, the Dean, faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Magret Afolabi during her remark challenged the pharmaceutical students association to look beyond pharmacy as there’s no limit to what they can become.

“We need many more pharmacists in politics, to represent us and be a voice for us. Pharmacist Olamiju did not say he had graduated in Pharmacy, he went all the way to Benin to get additional qualification in Pharm.D and that’s why we are calling him a pharmaceutical doctor today.”

The chairmen Obokun local government and Obokun East local council development area, Comrade Maruff Ogundipe and Hon. Soliu Bello in their separate remarks advised PANS to be focused, self determined and not to leave the political environment for the riff-raffs.

Dignitaries that accompanied him include, Hon. Oyinloye Seyi, Vice Chairman, Obokun East LCDA; Hon. Oladimeji Olamiju, Obokun APC Chairman; Hon. Olayiwola Satiregun, member, Oriade local government education authority board; Hon. David Alare, member, Obokun LGEA board, Hon. Fatai Faribido, among others.
