Former two-time gubernatorial candidate under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) Iyiola Omisore on Monday joined forces with the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Osun State.
The former Deputy Governor who joined All Progressive Congress, Ife Federal Constituency, officially registered and admitted into APC on Monday.
The official registration took place at 11.00 am at Omisore’s voting unit at St Gabriel Primary School, More, Ile-Ife.
During the official registration that took place in his voting unit, Omisore who did not speak with journalists was full of joy.
It would be recalled that Omisore served as Deputy State Governor of Osun State from 1999 to 2003 under Governor Adebisi Akande.
In 2014, he ran for Governor of Osun State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Rauf Aregbesola who was the incumbent Governor.
Also in 2018 Osun gubernatorial election, he contested on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) where he came third behind Senator Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Omisore was fully in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last general elections.
He said, “I don’t have to tell anybody that I am with the party. Any wise person should know where I Belong.”
He decamped to APC alongside thousands of his supporters in the state.
The former deputy Governror was the candidate of the main opposition party Peoples Democratic Party PDP in year 2014.
He was received into the party by the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Benedict Alabi, APC State Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, Commissioners in Oyetola’s cabinet and top APC chieftains.
Omisore came third in the 2018 elections, scoring over 118,000 votes after he left the PDP few months to the elections following irreconcilable difference with the party member.
He joined with his teeming supporters who dressed in different vests all pointing towards support for Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s reelection.
In his remarks the Chairman of the APC in the state Prince Gboyega Famodun said he was glad to witness the registration of Senator Iyiola Omisore into APC,as the former governor put his name down today “Monday “as a member of APC.
He said what Omisore has done put an end to all the insinuations that he will never join APC and that is deceiving APC.
Famodun said “On behalf of the leadership of thr party I want to thank you, Senator, such that what you are doing today will be of immersed benefit to APC, Ile-Ife and Osun State. This will be the beginning of new era in the state. ”
