Osun Assembly Chief Whip Charges Girl Child On Education

The Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Tunde Olatunji says education remains a fundamental tool to stimulate the capacity of the girl Child and make her useful to the society.

It is his submission that a girl child or a woman who is properly educated would be able to stand her ground, have confidence to resist sexual harassment,intimidation and be economically independent.

Hon Olatunji shared his views on the International Day of the Girl Child while addressing students on the Assembly ground at Origbo Community High School Ipetumodu as he resumed with the students on the first day of resumption in continuation of his education intervention scheme tagged “Tunde Goes To Teach”.

He told the female students in particular that capacity resided in them and they could attain any height they dreamt in life, but they must refused to be distracted, looked down upon and must imbibe the spirit of determination in whatever they do.

“The power and the talents to excell in whatever you do is in you. Nobody can stop you once you are determined. Challenges are part of life and can manifest in different areas, but only a courageous person and not gender wins eventually.”

After the Assembly, the legislator went into SS 2 where he took the students in Civic Education, enlightening them on their duties, right and obligations as citizens of Nigeria.

The Osun Assembly Chief Whip remarked ,” the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended recognizes you as a citizen,hence you have right to live, personally liberty,freedom of expression and right to be educated, but it also expect you to be law abiding and use your strength to contribute to the unity and peace of the country.”

Speaking to newsmen on the resumed “Tunde Goes To Teach” initiative, the legislator said the concept was to boost the morale of young persons and restore the hope of better tomorrow.

“I resumed at 7:15 am and charged the students on the purpose of Education and how to get their priorities right. My speech on the Assembly ground was aimed at building their self-confidence and inspire them to perform better in school and excell in life.”
