The event which took place at the popular Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo had members and lovers of the Governor who troop out en masses to give his second term bid a pat in the back.
They elated members of the party stated that the decision was taken by all the leaders and elders Constituency, Political appointees and executives.
Leaders of the party in the federal constituency, in a communique read by the former Deputy Governor, Grace Laoye-Ponle disclosed that Governor Oyetola run an inclusive government, hence, the decision to endorse him for a second term.
“The Constituency appreciated the numerous projectas he had embarked upon since inception notably the Olaiya Flyover Project the numerous road Projects, the Primary Health care and the feeding programme of the indigent masses.
We are confident that he will do more if given our mandate. It is this exemplary discharge of duty that endeared us to believe that he has scored 100% of our expectations”, she said.
The Chairman, Igbimo Agba, Pa Sola Akinwumi, commended the governor as a silent achiever whom he said had within the space of two and half years transformed the state.
Akinwumi said there was the need for all members of the party to embrace him and to continue to support him for second term in office.
In his remarks, Senator Ajibola Basiru representing Osun Central also eulogized governor Adegboyega Oyetola for priotising general social economic well-being of the masses in the 2022 budget proposal presented to the state house of assembly, noting that preponderating capital expenditure over recurrent expenditure is highly commendable.
He described Osun State budget as most efficient in financing infrastructure development, saying it’s the only state in the country where capital expenditure is higher than recurrent expenditure.
Senate spokesperson, Dr Ajibola Basiru while speaking said Governor Gboyega Oyetola has performed tremendously well and the need for then to support him to rule the state beyond 2022
He said even the Federal Government’s budget is still high on recurrent expenditure than capital which makes it difficult to finance infrastructure in the country.
“Osun is the only state in Nigeria which budget has higher capital expenditure than recurrent expenditure. Even the Federal Government’s budget has more on the recurrent side than capital expenditure which could be used to finance infrastructure. That is the major crisis with the country. But fortunately, Osun is on the right side for three years, the Governor has been consistent with a budget with higher capital expenditure”, he said.
CityMirrorNews reports that Imam Ayatulahi Adepoju, APC Chairman in Olorunda moved a motion for the endorsement of the governor for second term and the motion was seconded by Comrade Adejumo Kamorudeen
Chairman, Irepodun Local Government.
Some of the party chieftains at the programme include former Deputy Speaker, Akintunde Adegboye, Chief Lai Oyeduntan, Chairman Osun Elder Caucus, Engr. Shola Akinwumi, Hon Taofeek Badmus, Hon Kunle Akande, Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr Olalekan Badmus, Commissioner for Water and Sanitation, Engr Sola Oladepo, Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Rasak Adeosun among others.
