The Provost of Osun State College of Education, Prof Kola Labayo Kazeem, has been accused of corruption, gross misappropriation and financial recklessness.

They Provost was also accused of allocating some part of the institution’s land to illegal miners.

The tenure of Professor Kazeem will end on November 20, 2021.

These had made some workers to raised their voices and asked the state government to properly investigate the Provost.

According to sources in the institution, Professor Kazeem since assumption of office had perpetrated various kinds of impropriety which has put the financial fortunes of the college in jeopardy.

Recently some staff of the institution were said to have circulated some leaflets within the institution containing series of allegations against the provost.

He was also alleged of “misappropriating college resources through his younger brother (Femi) who is a notable contractor on campus.

However, it was gathered that on Tuesday, some miners whose the Provost allegedly allocated the land for chased out the staff who are using the College’s venture.

The miners were said to have been threatened to come back.

“Purchase of a rickety tipper at the rate of 14million naira and later spent 6million to repair it as well as purchase of a Leyland bus instead of Toyota Coaster at the rate of 40 million.

He was also alleged of Purchasing used cars for the college at rate of 77 million through bank loan, keeping of 40million into his late friends account (Mr Niyi Agbetusin); Non payment of 20months peculiar allowances to the workers despite realization of over 100 million naira from the illegal gold miners that he brought into the college.

“Throwing our college heritage away by installing his best friend as college venture manager (Mr Kayode Farinloye) who is helping him to embezzle college fund, felling off college trees which serves as wind breaker for college buildings and repair of staff school building at the rate of 10million naira.”

“We will appreciate if this man can be asked to proceed on leave since his tenure is almost expiring for all these to be investigated before he will escape from the college on the 20th of November, 2021 when his term will end.”

While contacted , the outgoing Provost debunked the allegations describing it as an attempt to tarnish his “good image”.

According to him, “I have not seen any allegation. Nobody has written to me. I have not stolen money, and I didn’t sell land for anybody. I didn’t collect one hundred millions from anybody.

“State Government had come. They have sent all manner of people to come. When he was asked of the actual time that the government representatives visited the institution, Prof Kazeem said “it was between September and this present moment”.

“You know these people that writing papers they are afraid of me being given a second term.

On the allegations that he installed his best friend as the school’s venture manager , the Provost who outrightly denied the allegation said Mr Farinloye is a staff of the College.

He added that: “Mr Farinloye was the deputy Registrar. He was transferred from Iree to our school.

“Let me say this to you, If I have anything to hide I would have taken position that I’m not supposed to talk to you on phone.” He concluded.
