A group within the Osun state People’s Democratic Party known as ‘The Conscience’ has called on Osun West Senatorial aspirant, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, to join Osun 2022 gubernatorial race.

The Conscience asked Babayemi to pick PDP nomination form and run for the forthcoming gubernatorial election to further boost the chances of the opposition in defeating the current ruling party, All Progressives Congress.

In a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the group, Kehinde Adesiyan and Funmi Ayoola, respectively said they researched and discovered that the easiest way the PDP can win the forthcoming election in Osun is to hand its ticket to a qualified, competent, and credible technocrat that will appeal to majority members of the party and the electorate.

The statement read in parts, “Omooba Dotun Babayemi, is a prince, a lawyer, a finance and security expert. He has vast experience in various sectors of the economy, both locally and internationally. He is arguably one of the biggest employers of labour from the South West.

“Babayemi is known to be at peace with the various waring groups within the party, and since he is generally accepted, we thought we do not need to take difficult route towards selecting, who will fly our party’s flag in 2022.

“His incredible records at the polls with a relatively unknown party in 2019 is a testimony of what he is capable of doing, if given the opportunity for bigger task.

“We humbly solicit the support of leaders and stakeholders to join the efforts aimed at making Omooba Babayemi the PDP governorship flag bearer by adopting, as doing such will make the impending victory easier than we can envisage.

“We as a group spread across all the 3O local government areas of the state, we will continue to advocate for a candidate with no ‘baggage’ and we will not hesitate to contribute money and purchase his nomination form.”

The group then urged the citizens to use opportunity of the ongoing continuous voter’s registration and register, so that “we can collectively rescue the state from the continuous debt and misgovernance the APC has sentenced the state”
