CONMESS: Health Workers Hail Oyetola, Pledge Optimal Performance

Health workers in Osun State have applauded Governor Gboyega Oyetola for being committed to their welfare, as
Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) was approved by the government.

This was contained in a press statement jointly signed by Dr Ayodeji Ogungbemi and Dr Olusegun Ilori, the President and General Secretary respectively, of Congress of the Association of Resident Doctors, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital , Osogbo.

The medical workers said the gesture of the state government was a start point for better days ahead, adding that the association is ready to help government achieve it’s goal seamlessly in the sector.

“The Executive Committee and the Congress of the Association of Resident Doctors’ , LAUTECH Teaching Hospital , Osogbo, sincerely appreciate the approval for the implementation of 100 percent payment of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for all categories of health workers in the state.

“Obviously, the new development would help to stem the menace of brain drain in the health sector, and perfectly curtail industrial action for utmost performance.

“The move will also go a long way towards improving the standard of health sector in the state , which we believe is one of the front line agenda of the Governor.

“Over the last few years, we have consistently experienced massive brain drain which had impacted poorly on the health care delivery in the state.

“There has been loss of moral and enthusiasm among the Health workers , with consequential work overload, which had adversely affected the psychology of health workers in the state.

“We want to categorically state that this is a great step in the right direction, which will positively impact on health care delivery in the state”, the statement read.

CityMirrorNews recalls that Governor Oyetola, lastly week approved the implementation of 100 percent payment of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for all categories of health workers in the state.

The approval puts an end to eight years of agitation for salary increment by medical practitioners in the state.

The CONMESS is applicable to medical and dental officers, Medical Consultants and Veterinary Officers, while the CONHESS is applicable to all health professionals and health workers in the Ministry of Health and in all the state health facilities under the Hospitals Management Board.
