Philanthropist, Hart-Egbunike Renovates Hospital, Donates Medical Equipment

A renowned philanthropist, Mrs Olga Oruene Hart-Egbunike has renovated and donated hospital items worth millions of Naira to Lifestyle Medicine Centre, Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, Ile-Ife.

Hart-Egbunike said the donation was part of her effort to improve the social welfare of the people at the grassroots.

The enigma simple natured woman according to CityMirrorNews Correspondent was a patient at the Lifestyle Medicine Centre, Seventh Day Adventist Hospital following a partial stroke illness which she later survived, courtesy of the effort of the medical personnel at the hospital.

Having undergone series of medical examinations and treatment in the hospital, Mrs Hart-Egbunike vowed to leave a landmark legacy behind and ensure she give back to Ife town where the Lifestyle Medicine Centre is located as a sign of giving back to the community.

The hospital which is named after the late husband of the donor, Engr Sylvester Egbunike who died three years ago was donated and commissioned to commemorate his exit on earth.

Mrs Hart-Egbunike said the gesture was to compliment the efforts of SDA at ensuring effective provision of healthcare services to the people of the town, state and Nigeria at large.

She observed that most public hospitals in Nigeria lack the needed equipment for their services and the gesture was for the SDA to tackle some of the challenges facing the state health sector.

According to her, she decided to embark on supporting SDA hospital management to improve the standard of health in their respective states for the well-being of the people.

“After the demise of my late caring and good husband, I had partial stroke , I couldn’t walk and I couldn’t do anything so I decided not to go to a Hospital where my husband died because of the bitter experience I had as God would have it , a friend of mine came to greet me and recommended Seventh Day Adventist, Lifestyle Medicine Centre where a veteran Nollywood Actor , Alex Osifo who was said to have suffered the same illness was treated and become healed.”

Mrs Hart-Egbunike who gave thanks to God Almighty for giving her sound Health after the illness said she would continue to contribute her own quota to the development of humanity.

She said: “With the little I have, I have donated 17 bed facilities, installation of light , purchasing of generating set, provision of drinkable water and general renovation.”

She, therefore, appealed for judicious utilization of the donated commodities, applauded the management of the hospital for the opportunity given to her to contribute to the development of the the society.

Speaking, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi commended Mrs Hart-Egbunike for contributing immensely to the upgrading of the hospital.

Ooni who said he was very elated to see the level of renovation and equipments single handedly sponsored by Mrs Hart-Egbunike urged other philanthropists to emulate the good gusture of the donor.

Arole Oodua enjoined people to be kind to the less Privileged, saying they must always think of what they should be remembered for after they exit the world.

“This life is vanity, only what you are expected to do on earth is to be kind with one and other. Let’s always extend hands of love to the people around us because this is what we shall be remembering for.

“I was very happy when I was told of this edifice. Mrs Hart-Egbunike is a great woman in fact , she has done honour to us in Ife. ”

Speaking, Dr Oludayo Olosunde Adeyemi, the Chief Medical Director of Seventh Day Adventist Hospital expressed the appreciation of the management for the philanthropist’s kind gesture and called on other well meaning individuals to emulate her.

Dr Adeyemi said that renovation and donated equipments would assist in addressing shortage of facilities in hospital.

He said: ” the newly refurbished lifestyle Medical Centre that is sponsored by a woman of Honour Mrs Olga Hart-Egbunike in memory of late husband Mr Sylvester Odiatu Egbunike who lived an exemplary Christian Life.

“He supported charities and gave everything to the course of humanity . His life is a challenge to us all, that we should seek to impact our world in any and every way we can”
