Osun First Lady Declares Total War Against Gender Based Violence

Wife of the Governor of Osun and the Chairperson of Gender Based Violence has admonished all Gender based Violence Management Committee to be ready to promote value orientation towards attitudinal change and have zero tolerance for gender based Violence within the next twenty eight months.

This charge was given by Mrs Kafayat Oyetola at the end of the two- day retreat on:” the development of a multisectoral action plan to end violence against women and girls child” held at Miccom golf and resort,Ada.

She announced that the committee members, who had been impacted,are now ready to educate the parents, teachers,market associations traditional leaders and religious leaders on how to wage war against the endemic gender based violence.

The two – day retreat featured series of lectures on matters arising, challenges and solutions to gender based violence and also developing strategic plan to eradicate gender based Violence within the next 28 months.

Speaking on behalf of the Committee, His Royal majesty Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama said the Committee members are ready to take the advocacy message to all nooks and crannies of the State.

Speaking of on behalf of market women in the state, the Iyaloja General, State of Osun, Alhaja Awawu Asindemade said all market women in the state will give their full support in campaigning against gender based violence in the state.

In the same view, the Hon. Commissioner for women, children and Social Affairs, Barr (Mrs) Olubukola Olaboopo and Hon.Representing Ifelodun State Constituency and House Committee on women and children Affairs, Hon.Mulikat Jimoh appreciated the wife of the Governor for good initiative and for the invaluable impact of the retreat.

The duo promised to be proactive in the campaign to eradicate gender based violence in Osun.
