The spate of ritual killings in Akoko area of Ondo State, is currently giving the residents a lot of concern as another 70-year-old woman, Madam Sidikat Jimoh, has been killed by suspected ritualists.
The alarming rate of the killings came to the fore again when 70yr-old woman was found in her pool of blood at her residence located at Ayetoro street, Ogbagi-Akoko, in Akoko northwest local government area of the state.
It would be recalled that similar incident occurred on Akoko towns like Ikare, Ugbe and Arigidi Akoko last year and suspected ritualists were yet to be arrested for prosecution.
A source who is a neighbour to the deceased said that “her assailants removed many parts of her body.
“The ritualists even wanted to set her dead body ablaze, but ran away, leaving behind some of the removed parts of her body.
“This is mysterious, we have never experienced this kind of killing before in this town,” the source lamented.
Both the Police Area Commander for Ikare-Akoko, Assistant commissioner of Police, ACP Razak Rauf and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Ogbagi, CSP Kunle Fabuluje confirmed the incident and said full scale investigation have commenced while the corpse had been deposited at mortuary of the Ondo state specialist hospital, Ikare-Akoko.
