Speaking at the event tagged: “Skills to Wealth Empowerment Programme” which was held at the headquarters of Obokun local government, Ibokun, Adeyemi popularly called Irekandu described the gesture as part of his pro-masses programmes designed to banish hunger and lift people out of poverty.
He maintained that the welfare of his people was a priority and not an option, adding that he has a great passion in the growth and development of youths in his Constituency, saying youth and women must be supported by any serious government and wealthy individuals.
The vibrant young Politician reiterated his commitment to even and equitable distribution of resources, saying no effort would be spared to ensure a better life for all in the constituency.
‘We are taking over 100 people out of poverty index in first phase’
“I have a great passion in the growth and development of our teeming youths and women. Youths and women who out of resiliency and strong determination have continuously contributed to the economy of our great nation through trade and technical works are no doubts genuine movers of our society. I have a strong belief that if we all come together as a force to tackle poverty with a vision of enriching lives through supports, our society will become better.
“In all my years as a child even as an undergraduate in the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Akure, I have always had great compassion and unwavering determination to end poverty because I have seen, felt and experienced what it takes to be wanting or not having enough. With the recent loss of jobs and widening of the colony of unemployed, I greatly believe that setting up of people to involve in technical works and release of grants to small scale businesses will surely reduce the poverty index of every society.
“As the deadly virus, COVID-19 continues to wreck the economy and making majority of the population more vulnerable, I have forwarded my suggestions to resuscitate the economy to appropriate quarters and also advised government at all levels to invest in the people especially the young ones to reduce criminality.
“In my practical contributions to the resuscitation of economy and uplifting of our people from extreme poverty, I am planning to organise a programme tagged “Skills to Wealth Empowerment Programme”. This programme will be in phases and the first phase will be targeted at empowering over 100 people of Obokun State Constituency responsibly.
“We will be focusing on how to assist traders who are deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and young people who have passed through apprenticeship stage will be empowered.
He said he will not relent in contributing his quotas to the growth and development of the state.
Some of the beneficiaries who expressed their feelings appreciated the lawmaker for counting them worthy.
