Rev Atolaye Charges Nigerian Leaders To Fear God, As Otapete Methodist Cathedral Celebrates 120th Anniversary

Otapete Methodist Church Cathedral, Imesi-ile today March 8, 2020 celebrated its 120th years anniversary of existence with a call to Nigerian leaders to always have the fear of God in their hearts while governing the country.

The Bishop, Diocese of Imesi Ile of the church, Rt.Rev. Rufus O. Atolaye who made the call while speaking with newsmen in the town, observed that, “it is only when our leaders fear God,that divine and absolute security in the country could be achieved.”

The clergy who argued that, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, maintained that, the could country could witness crisis free one , if only and only, our leaders follow the precepts of God and move closer to him.

He preached against sectionalism, segregation, tribalism and nepotism but instead appealed to all and sundry to embrace peace and live in harmony for the advancement of the country.

Rt. Rev. Atolaye who however appealed to leaders and their followers in the country to humble themselves and turn away from their iniquities, maintained that, with these, God will reign and guide our leaders right to be able to govern well as expected.

He pointed out that, many societies and it’s inhabitants are facing a lot of challenges ranging from backwardness, battering of economy, shattering of economy, hardship, famine and many more because they had departed from the ways of God.

While arguing that, God does not share His glory with any mortal, he admonished all to always lean and cast their trust in God and stop worshipping deities and other lesser gods who are powerless in strength and deliverance.

The man of God advised Nigerians to build their houses on the rock of ages saying, “we are the head and we will never be tail in Jesus name.”

The sermon preacher who further remarked that most of the country leaders are greedy and self-centered, added that, it is unfortunate that, in Nigeria, “We don’t have enough for our greed but we have enough for our needs”.

Speaking on the church contributions to the immediate environment he pointed out that, the church has come to the aids of inhabitants of the town and other people around the town through provision of health care services, qualitative education and others.

Also, in his own speech, Very Rev. R.A
Akin-Akinlade, presbyter/minister in charge of Methodist Church, Imesi-ile expressed his happiness on the occasion he described as second to none.

He however charged members of the church to strive hard and contribute the more to the uplifts of the church to make it more virile.

Rev. R.A. Akin AKinlade also remarked that, the work of God should not be allowed to suffer saying, all should come in unison and make the church a pacesetting one.

The chairman, organising committee for the 120th years anniversary of the church, Mr. Niran Babanumi in his speech appreciated God Almighty for giving all and sundry the grace to witness what he described as historic occasion and prayed for more turn around of divine blessings in the vine yard of God.

The event which attracted important dignitaries from all walks of life, also saw Mrs. Jumoke, Akinjiola, the Director General of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) as one of the important personalities that witnessed the occasion.
