Eyitayo Jegede, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, has sought the support of former president Olusegun Obasanjo ahead of the October 10 poll.

The former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state made this known on Saturday via Twitter.

“Seeking support of the elders, the next 63 days will no doubt be decisive, we will succeed. God our help!” Jegede captioned a photo of himself with the Hilltop man and one other person

Jegede had during the PDP governorship primary in July defeated other contestants having polled 888 votes, while the deputy governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi, polled 657 votes; and the PDP National Vice Chairman, Eddy Olafeso, came third with 175 votes.

The election was keenly contested among the eight aspirants, and no fewer than 2,122, delegates from the 18 local government areas of the state participated in the election.

Jegede would face Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who is seeking reelection on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

The PDP candidate, who lost to the incumbent in 2016, said God asked him to challenge Akeredolu again.
