Otun-Ekiti Youth Forum has rejected the selection of Prince Adekunle Adeagbo as the new Oore of Mobaland.

The youth in a petition addressed to Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and signed by Comrade Sunday Adebayo, said only two out of five kingmakers of Otun-Ekiti selection of the new king.

They noted that two out five kingmakers: Obanla, Chief James Odeniyi and Obajemu, Chief Akanni Atolagbe placed active role in purported selection of Prince Adekunle Adeagbo as new king while Obaaro, Chief Sunday Olajide Asuribi refused to participate in the fault process, despite attending meeting held at Obanla residence as against Idi-egun. They added other traditional chiefs expected to monitor the process were sidelined.

A viral audio circulating in the media space exposed interaction of Obanla with Adifagbade and Baba Arifa on the need to align with Prince Adekunle Adeagbo.

”we are conscious of the fact that only person one the seven candidates would emerge as the new king but the manipulation of the entire process by Obanla has raised tension in Otun-Ekiti. The people have rejected kangaroo process engineered by Obanla to favor a particular prince.”

Inline with tradition and Otun-Ekiti 1961 Declaration, five kingmakers namely; Obanla, Obajemu, Obaaro, Obanurin and Obalotin are expected to meet, consult Ifa Oracle for determination of Oore at Idi-egun near odo oja and therefore present the selected candidate(s) to State Governor for ratification.

The people of Otun-Ekiti in Moba local government area therefore urge you not to honor any list from the shabby selection process and order for fresh one in full compliance with Otun Declaration and our tradition in the interest of peace and tranquility.

Ekiti State Government had on April 24, 2020 directed kingmakers in Otun-Ekiti to select a new king for the vacant stool of Oore of Mobaland from qualified prince of Ile-Iyaba Ruling House in line with 1961 Declaration as contained in a letter signed by Secretary of Moba Local Government, Ariyo M.O.

Ile-Iyaba Ruling House therefore forwarded seven princes; Samson Popoola, Adeyinka Adeagbo, Adekunle Adeagbo, Anthony Tunde Abolarinde, Omowonuola Heritage Adewumi,
Adegboye Adebiyi and
Paul Olubummi Ajibade to the kingmakers for consideration
