Registration: Okada Riders Pledge Support For Osun Govt

The joint associations for motorcycle operators popularly known as OKADA in Osun State have pledged their full support for the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola – led government on his determination to get rid of thugs, armed robbers and hooligans within their ranks through the ongoing free registration initiative introduced by the Government.

In a press statement jointly signed by the six different associations whose umbrella body is Osun State Commercial Motorcycle Riders Union of Nigeria (OSCOMORUN), led by all their Chairmen; ACOMORAN – OKADA, ACOMORAN – EXPRESS, MUTUN, MOTOAN, ANACOWA and OCTMA led by Comrades Ismaila Tiamiyu, Ajisefini Mukaila, Adebayo Tajudeen, Gbenga Ajenifuja, Jimoh Rasheed and Ilesanmi Lawrence respectively, in their words, “We hereby condemn in totality the unsolicited support and retrogressive tendencies by uninvited, unscrupulous elements and agents of darkness, hiding and masquerading as activists to disseminate falsehood and wrong information to members of the public about a nonexistent N10,000 registration fee for motorcyclists in the state. This is a fabricated lie from the pit of hell to misrepresent the intentions and aspiration of the government, towards misleading the citizens of Osun state.

“As an indivisible and united association under one umbrella of OSCOMORUN, we make bold to say that the ongoing registration is being undertaken by the state government of Osun, FREE OF CHARGE and at no cost whatsoever to any operator within the state, and nobody should pay a kobo to anyone under the guise of the motorcycle registration.

“In the same vein, we have not assigned anyone as solicitor or campaigner to address any issue affecting motorcycle operations on our behalf in the state. As concerned and critical stakeholders within Osun, we are totally in support of all the peaceful measures implemented by the Oyetola administration in order to strengthen law and order, for peace, tranquillity, economic progress and overall development within our state, including the restriction of motorcycle operations between 8pm and 6am curfew for all citizens and residents of the State”, Tiamiyu said.

“The Chairmen of the six associations said, “We are in conformity and consonance with the mission and vision of the government . We implore security agencies to arrest anyone parading him or herself as an advocate of human right activist or revolution now agent for motorcycle operators and owners in the state. Lastly, we use this opportunity to appeal to all commercial motorcycle operators to make judicious use of the two weeks registration window, to perfect their registration with the State ministry of works and transport by registering in their different units and local government under their associations, the statement concluded.
