Teachers’ Recruitment: Over 5,000 Applicants Storm Osun Secretariat

As the sales of log in pins for the recruitment of 2,500 teachers as announced by the osun State government commences today, over 5,000 applicants stormed the ministry of education, state Secretariat, Abere in a bid to get the log in pin to access the forms via the internet.

A visit to the ministry of education at the state Secretariat as early as 8am by CityMirrorNews saw applicants in their thousands already on ground getting ready to start purchasing the log in pins.

Being the first day of the sales of the pin, it was a bit of a surprise that over 5,000 applicants could have made it to the seceretriat as early as 8am with some of them found to have come with their breakfast in food flasks.

Speaking with CityMirrorNews, one of the applicants, who identified herself as Mrs Idowu Olalekan said she got overwhelmed by the huge number of the applicants she met on ground even before 8am.

She said despite the fact that she got to the premises of the ministry of education even before 8:00 o’clock in the morning she was surprised to meet hundreds of applicants who had come earlier before her.

She frowned at the high rate of unemployment in the country, while appreciating the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola for deciding to recruit teachers and take teeming youths out of the labour market.

It will recalled that state government of Osun had through newspaper publications and announcements via the electronic media called for suitably qualified candidates to apply online through osun.csm.ng after the purchase of a log in pin from the ministry of education.

The newspaper advert for the recruitment exercise reads in part; “The Governor of the State of Osun, His Excellency, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has approved-in-Council the immediate recruitment of teachers into Public Basic and Post-Basic Schools in the state.

Consequence upon this, the State Ministry of Education hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill existing vacancies in the disciplines outlined below:

1) English Language
2) Mathematics
3) Science, Humanities and Social Sciences

APPLICANTS REQUIREMENTS

– WASSCE/NECO-SSSCE/NABTEB/Teachers Certificate Grade all (not more than (2) sitting)
– Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE)
– Degree in Education with relevant teaching subjects or Basic Degree with PGD, HND + PGD
– Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) certificate will be an added advantage
– Any additional relevant qualifications

In addition to the above, candidate must also possess the following:

A recent passport photograph, functional mobile phone line, functional email address, local government certificate of origin, birth certificate, attestation from two referees and means of identification.

Candidates are to register online through osun.csm.ng after a log in pin has being purchased from the Ministry of Education, State Secretariat, Osogbo.

Registration of Candidates closes four weeks from the date of this advertisement/publication.
