The Director General, Amotekun, Osun State, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, has appealed to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) to cooperate with the Amotekun enforcement team to achieve an effective policing of the state borders.

Comrade Amitolu Shittu made the appeal when he led his team to effect border closure directive by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola at Osun-Oyo border, through Iwo town.

During the operation, many commercial vehicles, who entered Osun illegally from Oyo state, were sent back to Ibadan; while a recalcitrant commercial driver was arresting and handed over to the DPO, Iwo division.

The Amotekun DG, who frowned at the uncooperative attitude of the transport unions; also called on the Nigeria police and other security agencies to see effective implementation of Governor Oyetola’s directive as a collective responsibility to contain the spread of the dreaded corona virus.

While receiving the team, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu the first, thanked Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, for appointing the personality of a foremost rights activist to lead the Amotekun Corps; noting that he is never in doubt that with Comrade Amitolu Shittu as the DG of Amotekun, osun is in a safe hand.

Similarly, the leader of Taawun Muslim Organization, Imaam Daud Imran Malaasan, said he openly declared the group’s support for Amotekun, because of the person of Comrade Amitolu Shittu; saying Taawun is ever ready to give necessary support to Amotekun corps to succeed.

Reacting separately, the pioneer DG of Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, thanked the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdrasheed Akanbi Adewale Telu the first and the leader of Taawun, Imaam Daud Imraan Molaasan, for their love and support; pledging that he would justify the confidence reposed in him by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the entire people of Osun to lead the all important native security organization to the promised land
