A front line politician in the state, Alhaji Ahmed Raheem, popularly known as Lagaz, has called on politicians in the state not to dabble into issue of leadership of the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), warning that such could be detrimental to the peace and development of the state.

Raheem, one of the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North Local Government Area, Oyo State, stated this in an interview on Tuesday.

He said the current issue about a change of guard at the helm of affairs of the union is solely between the members of the factions in the state.

“They have their way of doing their things and they all understand that way without crisis. I believe if politicians stay away during this period, peace will reign within them.

“At the moment, both the current chairman, Abideen Ejiogbe and Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila, a.k.a Auxiliary knows the traditional ways to settle the ongoing argument within themselves, and if it tarries, they can contact Abuja, their headquarters for a truce.

On possible crisis that could engulf the state during this period, Raheem said such cannot happen again. He reiterated that PDP as a party will not tolerate violence in that regard, adding that security agencies in the state should be prepared to handle the situation.

“I want to call on the heads of security agencies in the state to be prepared and ensure that if NURTW will be changing their leadership on May 29, that should not in any way affect the peace of the state in any form.
