Group Chides Obasanjo For Liking President Buhari Administration To Gen Sanni Abacha

Oranmiyan DG, Mr Olajide Sadiq Addressing members of NUJ Correspondents' Chapel

The Oranmiyan group, has chided former president Olusegun Obasanjo for liking the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari with General Sanni Abacha in his new letter.

The group stated that Obasanjo should not be taken with his utterances because of his failure to stand by his earlier statement made on Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking at the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Osogbo, Osun State capital, during a courtesy visit of the new executives of the group, the Director General, Mr. Olajide Sadiq, said President Buhari has not done anything undemocratic since his assumption.

He said ex-president Obasanjo has only expressed his freedom of speech as guaranteed in the Constitution of Nigeria, and he is entitled to his opinion as a Nigerian.

He recalled that the same Obasanjo that said that God should punish him if he support Atiku, is now supporting him, forgetting that he has cursed himself.

The group also assured that Governor Gboyega Oyetola will perform well “even better than the former Governor, Rauf Aregbesola.

He noted that Aregbesola’s administration has improved security of the state that residence can now sleep with two eyes closed and their doors open.

He commended Aregbesola for the establishment of the group and promised that Oranmiyan would continue to support the present administration towards achieving its mandate.

The group however called for support of the media to the administration of Oyetola by reporting him accurately.

According to him, ” The roles of the Oranmiyan can not be overemphasized in the Yoruba race, adding that the group had done quite well in the state.

Sadiq said,” Oranmiyan has been the vehicle with which the former governor of the state Gov. Rauf Aregbesola used to promote his ideology in ruling Osun for eight years”.

He noted that the group had never visited the chapel since it came to limelight eight years ago, adding that a new dawn had come with the visit.

The DG called for the support of the media in promoting its activities in terms of information dissemination and gathering.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the NUJ Correspondent Chapel , Comrade Olaniyi Ajibola , assured the group of the support of the media in promoting its activities.

Ajibola, however, called on Oranmiyan not to relent in doing the needful to its members when the need arouse especially the welfare of journalists which is paramount.
