Confusion As Man Slumps, Dies While Reading Friend’s Funeral Oration
There was confusion at Inere, Umuida, Enugu Ezike, in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State weekend, when a man who was paying tribute to a dead friend slumped and died.
Reuben Abugu, who was a secondary school teacher at Nsukka, suddenly slumped, while reading his tribute at the graveside of his friend, Uwakwe Ugwu, penultimate Friday.
Abugu was rushed to hospital while unconscious but died few hours later.
Ugwu was said to have traveled home with some building materials for his proposed house in the village and was going back to his base, when the mini-bus in which he was traveling in with other passengers had a head on collision with another vehicle, leading to the death of some of the passengers, including Ugwu.
Sources close to the late secondary school teacher’s relations said he was very close to Ugwu, hence he was emotionally disturbed when he died.
Close family members who confirmed teacher’s death blamed it on high blood pressure.
They said his blood pressure was very high at the time he was reading his tribute at Ugwu’s graveside and slumped, adding that he did not regain his consciousness in the hospital until he gave up ghost.
