OAU Alumni Commiserates With Management Over Death Of Lecturers

The leadership of the Great Ife Alumni Association Worldwide has commiserated with the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife over the sudden demise of three Academic Staff of the Institution.

Speaking on behalf of the Alumni, the President of the Association, Engr. Wale Olaleye described the deaths as very unfortunate and prayed that God will grant the University Community and the families of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses.

It would be recalled that three of the University’s Lecturers, Prof. Nicholas Igbokwe, Prof. Jerome Elusiyan and Dr. Victoria Adeniyi died suddenly within a spate of two weeks.

The President seized the opportunity to call on the Federal Government to improve on the status and security on Nigeria roads most especially during the festive periods as many people would be plying the roads. He stressed that emphasis should be on the Patrol of roads rather than Check Points.
It would be recalled that one of the deceased, Prof Jerome Elusiyan, who was until his death, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Council of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH ), Ile-Ife, was murdered on the Benin- Ekpoma Road on his way from Benin where he has gone on Official assignment as an external Examiner.

Engr. Olaleye who lamented the untimely death of the erudite scholars said their valuable contributions to the development of the Ivory Tower and the mounding of young lives would be greatly missed.

He prayed for the Institution, friend’s and families the deceased left behind.
