Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has enjoined the newly-elected lawmakers to key into the developmental plans of his administration.

He said the lawmakers are elected to make laws that will make life meaningful for the citizens, thus complementing the efforts of the Executive to strengthen good governance.

Governor Oyetola spoke at two different events organised to fete the lawmakers after the All Progressives Congress (APC) claimed an overwhelming victory in Saturday’s House of Assembly elections, winning 22 out of the 25 seats with results so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A dinner by the Governor’s wife Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, on Sunday and a lunch on Monday by former Interim National Chairman of the APC Chief Bisi Akande at his home in Ila Orangun provided the platform for interaction between the leaders and the newly elected lawmakers.

Chief Akande urged the new lawmakers to respect party supremacy and serve the people diligently.

Osun APC Chairman Gboyega Famodun, also admonished them not to neglect their constituency and the party. He charged them to provide quality representation.

The newly- elected lawmakers led by Majority Leader Timothy Owoeye, Senators elect Ajibola Basiru and Adelere Oriolowo led the others to Ila Orangun.

Former Deputy Governor Adeleke Adewoyin and Mrs Titi -Laoye-Tomori, were among dignitaries at the dinner.

Oyetola charged the new legislators to be magnanimous in victory and see their emergence as a clarion call to serve the state and humanity.

He called on the law-makers to see their constituents as priority in all they do and enact laws that will accelerate genuine development.

He said: “Your primary assignment is to make laws that will strengthen democracy and promote good governance.
“You are elected to represent your constituencies and bring to your constituents the dividends of democracy.

“I want you to key into our lofty policies to move the state forward as we are determined to ensure equitable distribution of wealth.”

A House of Reps member-elect, Mrs Taiwo Oluga, promised on behalf of her colleagues that they will promote legislation that will bring succour to the people.

She said: “We will uphold the supremacy of our party- the APC and give the needed support to the present administration”.
