Scores of members of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun state stormed the popular Nelson Mandela Freedom park, Osogbo to rejoice with Commissioner nominee, Mr Sola Oladepo to represent the state constituency.

Oladepo, was the Director General of Ilerioluwa Campaign Committee for Osun Central in the last gubernatorial election.

His office was filled to the brim with members of the party who came in their hundreds to rejoice with him.

Led by Secretary to the APC Elders Caucus, Olorunda Local Government, Johnson Koledowo, former Deputy Speaker of Osun state House of Assembly, Hon Taiwo Sumonu, former Chairman of Olorunda local Government, Hakeem Okunade (Samanja), Mrs Muslimat Ibaraheem, among other gave Oladepo’s nomination pat on the back.

Speaking at the event, a member of APC Elder Caucus, Hon Sumonu said , the purpose of their visitation was to rejoice with the Oladepo on his nomination.

Sumonu, who was very furious about the hypocritical altitude of some leaders in the local government condemned the antics of other members of ad-hoc committee set up to come up with the name of whoever that was interested in becoming a commissioner.

According to him, in an unanimous decision by the ad-hoc committee headed by the former Deputy Governor, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori, the six-member committee resolved and signed that Sola Oladepo is in order of priority and to be considered ahead all other nominations.

“The ad-hoc committee resoled that Oladepo had been in close contact with Governor for years and hope that Oyetola will give Osogbo as a state capital, a good leverage under the new administration.

“This committee met and at the end of the nomination process, five people signified their interest, it was now the duty if the committee to scale down the names to minimum of one of maximum of two.

“At the end of the process, the committee came up with two names, if we are suppose to send two names to Federal Constituency level as the nominee from Olorunda local government, the two names will be shola oladipo and Hon. Wasiu Adebayo and in that order.

“But if we were to send only one name, that single name will be that of Shola Oladipo, the seven men committee met and decided on such.

“All of us signed including her excellency the former deputy Governor. That was the report we sent to the Federal constituency to join those that are coming from the remaining three local governments.

“But to the surprise of all of us when we got to the Federal constituency level, people started making agitation that they are not going to abide by the decision that has all ready been taken at the local government level.

“What is more surprising is that even those who attended their signature to the document affirming Oladepo denied saying they did not know what they signed.

“If this set of people can come out and deny what they signed. You will begin to wonder what kind of people are representing Olorunda at various level of government.

“The called another meeting but some of us decided not to be part it, but thank God we got information that the party has decided that the document that was sent to them with signatures of committee led by former deputy Governor will be approved.

“That the meeting that was held in the house of the deputy Governor does not mean that she was part of the process. what will authenticate her involvement is to have her signed the document.”

Another speaker, Secretary, APC Elders Caucus, Johnson Koledowo said Oladepo deserved to be compensated for what he has done for the party in the years past.

Koledowo, who commended Governor Oyetola for allowing people to chose their representatives at the state council said the Governor has given party a listening hear.

In their separate remarks, former Chairman of the local government, Hon Hakeem Okunade and APC women leader, Mrs Muslim Ibrahim and Hon Kunle Akande who represents Olorunda in the State House of Assembly appreciated the committee for the work well done, saying Oladepo deserved the appointment.

Thanking the people for their support, Oladepo who said he has served the party for years , said his nomination is ordained by God.
