Police Assures Oyo Residents Of Peaceful Polls On Saturday

The Oyo State Police Command has assured residents of the state of a peaceful atmosphere during the governorship and state House of Assembly elections of Saturday

Mr Shina.T.Olukolu,the State Commissioner of Police gave the assurance on Wednesday in Ibadan while parading some suspects before the press men

He thanked the people of the state for their cooperation during the Presidential and National Assembly election urging the voters to improve on the good experience.

Olukolu denied the release of a politician arrested for the killing of a young man during the election explaining that he was still under investigation.

He disclosed that two persons have been arrested in Ibadan for diverting a full load truck of tricycles worth N14, 400, 000

Speaking while parading the suspected criminals yesterday, at the Oyo State Police Command Headquarter Eleyele Ibadan, the State Commissioner of Police CP Shina Olukoku said those suspected criminals namely Adenuga Michael, the truck driver aged 21, and his accomplice Saheed Yekini a motor boy aged 27 were arrested in their hideout at Odo Ona Kekere area of Ibadan, they were seen offloading some brand new tricycles from a Mark Truck with registration number Lagos KTU 400 XB which was suspected to have been hijacked.”

“This operation was made succeessful based on the information that reached our SARS office at Dugbe, that some hoodlums were seen offloading some brand new tricycles from a truck and luck ran out those suspects as they were arrested on the spot.”

However, one of the suspects Adenuga Michael said though they did not have intention of diverting the whole goods, ” w e just wanted to move just four out of the goods and sell it on our own for our own gain and I thinks it is a normal runs for we the drivers but we have not even remove the four pieces of the tricycles before we we’re arrested on the spot.”

CP Shina Olukoku while parading the suspected hijacker said, the suspect was arrested by Special Anti Robbery Sqaud of the Command.

The CP said the suspected hijacker who was arrested at Lagos Ibadan express way on 2nd of March, 2019, at about 7 am in the morning, while attempting to divert a full laden truck loaded with 33, 000 liters of petrol, and the CP noted that the the suspet have successfully diverted one trailer loaded with 33,000 of PMS to the Soka area of Ibadan.

“Our men acted upon an information and in the process one of the suspected criminals who was identify as Kola Abiodun aged 40 was arrested, meanwhile the hijacked PMS had been siphone into sixteen drums and twelve kegs while the truck has been taken to an unknown destination. Hence the products recovered from the hideout we’re transferred to SARS office at Dugbe Ibadan.

The CP however said that the suspected criminal has confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court of law for proper prosecution.
