The Action Democratic Party, ADP, governorship candidate, Brigadier-General Jon Temlong (Rtd) has said that he would turn Shendam to Green Valley if elected governor.

Temlong said this while addressing party faithful and supporters at the Shendam stadium in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau state today, Monday.

He said, “Gomai land is blessed. It is an agricultural area. We want to provide the infrastructure that would turn this place to green valley in the dry season. We will provide small scale industries that would add value to the agriculture so that our farmers can get value for their work. We will give elders hope, secure today and give a future for our children. A future that will meet the yearnings and aspirations of the 21st century.”

The campaign team had earlier paid homage to the Long Gomai, His Royal Highness, Miskoom Martin Mudu-Utrie Shaldas III at his expansive palace where Temlong sought for royal blessing.

He said the team was there, “To seek for your royal blessing. We are in your land to seek for peace. We are here to meet with our stakeholders to tell them our mission for Plateau state. As a traditional ruler, you are a father to all of us.

“It’s a homecoming for me to be here and to pay respect to you, somebody I’ve had long friendship for a long time.

“Ours will be a government for everybody. It’s all about Plateau. And that’s why we say, Plateau First. Our mission is to provide security and sustainable peace for Plateau. In 2002, it was a bloodbath for people here. Our farmers and citizens are not safe. People have been displaced from their ancestral homes. We have our people in IDPs. When we are secured, then we will move on to provide good governance. We want to give everybody a sense of belonging. Policy formulation will be bottom up. There will be justice and break the barriers.” He concluded.

While speaking, the Miskoom said, that their friendship is over 40 years.

“I know him personally even when he was a lieutenant. He’s not contesting because he wants office but to develop the state.

Peace and security is one of his major goal and objective. He has rightly captured our history. My prayer will go with all of you. The followers have an obligation to follow by example.

At Shendam stadium, Gregory Yilging Tapgun, ADP candidate House of Assembly, Shendam constituency, the party’s Chairman, Hon Gideon Adamu, youth leader and others addressed the gathering.
