Alleged Forgery, Theft:  Court Remands FAADEF President In Osun

The president of Food and Agricultural Development Foundation FAADEF, Michael Ona Orohu, was on Monday remanded in Ilesa prison custody by an Osun Magistrate court over alleged forgery.

Orohu, was also alleged of the theft of #2,500,000 belonging to the foundation.

The Benue born indigene was arraigned by the Osun state police command before Magistrate Mrs Fatima Sodamade on a two coint charge borthering on forgery and theft.

Briefing the court, police prosecutor, Fatoba Temitope said the defendant committed the offense between November 24th 2016 and 2017 at Heritage Bank and Alleluya Estate in Osogbo.

He explained that the accused allegedly stole cash sum of 2,500,000 property of FAADEF and also forged Bank of Industry’s offer of term loan documents with intent to defraud the foundation.

Temitope argued that the offense contravened Section 383(1) 465 and punishable under Section 390 (9) and 467 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume II laws of Osun State, 2002.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the allegations slammed against him.

The Defense counsel, Barrister Remigus Ngwu applied for his bail in the most liberal terms.

Ngwu, assured the court that the accused was ready to provide a reliable surety and he would not jump bail if granted.

But the prosecutor, opposed the oral bail application made by defense counsel on the ground that the accused has another pending case at the police station.

Ruling, Magistrate Sodamade turned down the oral bail application made by the defence counsel and ordered that the accused person be remanded in custody at Ilesa prison.

She, thereafter  adjourned the case till April  9, 2018 for ruling on on bail.
