A former Secretary to the Osun State Government (SSG), has again resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Alhaji Fatai Akinbade.

Alhaji Fatai Akinbade in his letter tittled: “Resignation As a member of the Peoples Democratic Party addressed to Hon. Soji Adagunodo, state chairman of the party and dated, July 24,2018 said that he is resigning from the PDP because the leadership of the party did not like him and were being threatened by his presence in the party.”

Akinbade, a former Chairman of PDP in Osun State was one of the four aspirants that contested the governorship primary election of the party last Saturday.

He scored 56 votes and came third in the election.

Yesterday’s resignation of Alhaji Akinbade from the PDP was the second time that he would quit the membership of the party.

He resigned his membership of the party in 2009 when he was the Secretary to the State Governor under Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola but returned to the party early this year when the leadership and Elders of the party went to appeal to him.

Akinbade did not however say which party he is heading to in his resignation letter.

Akinbade’s resignation letter reads: “I wish to notify you of my formal disengagement from the Peoples Democratic Party as a member as from today.

“I made this somewhat reluctant decision after due consultations with my political associates, leaders, admirers and friends within and outside the state.

“In particular, I came to this painful junction, having realized that the leadership of the party either do not want me or is threatened by my presence in the party. These fears became more pronounced, especially with the events that dovetailed into the recently concluded primary of the party.

“Consequently, as an ever forward-working individual, I am withdrawing my membership of the party without harbouring animosity against anyone and will always welcome and participate in electoral contests that leave the processes open and transparent.

“Above all, I thank members of the party, the grassroots, my teeming supporters and well-meaning individuals for always being there with me and for the purposeful vision I stand for.
I cannot thank you all, enough.”
