It Will Soon Be Compulsory For Every Household In Ondo To Have Serviceable Toilet, Says Akeredolu

The Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has disclosed that his administration will soon send a bill to the state House of Assembly that will make it compulsory for every household to own a serviceable toilet.

Akeredolu stated this while speaking at a two day Development Partners Summit in Akure stressing his administration’s readiness to put an end to public defecation to avert environmental hazard across the state.

With the cooperation of members of the state House of Assembly, the Governor assured that any house that defiles the order to provide toilet shall face prosecution.

Base on this, Akeredolu however appealed to the United Nation Children Fund (UNICEF) to assist with the construction of Public toilets in major cities across the state.

He maintained that the state will need the support of the Agency to develop since government can not do it alone.

In his goodwill message which was delivered at the occasion by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo who was represented by Dr. Issa Aliu Ibrahim described the programme as a welcomed initiative.

He however assured Ondo state government of the Federal Government’s readiness to support Governor Akeredolu led administration to move the state forward.

Also, the UNICEF Representative, Mr. Hamidou Poufon commended the state government for inventing in human development with the ultimate goal of ensuring that the people of the state thrive in good health.

He expressed the believe of UNICEF that it is the right of every child to have access to good healthcare and education to enable them realise their growth potentials.

Earlier in his welcome address, the state Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Pastor Emanuel Igbasan said, the theme, “Partnership for Progress” is well taught out in conscious recognition of the fact that sustainable development can be better achieved through robust partnership between the private and public sectors.

Governor Akeredolu used the occasion to relaunch Ondo state Education Endowment Fund under the Chairmanship of Mr. Sola Akinfenwa.

Other members of the Committee include Mr. Kayode Falowo, Akin Odumakinwa, Sheun Oloketuyi, Sheun Adegbulugbe and Segun Olugboyegun.
