Osun Youths Lauds Emergence Of Lawal As SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Says It Gives Hope To The Youths

About 10,000 youth across Osun state, on Monday, thronged the street of Osogbo, Osun State capital, to sensitise the electorate, especially youths, on the need for them to come out en mass and cast their vote and support Alhaji Yemi Lawal, the deputy candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the Saturday gubernatorial election.

The youths, across all political divide, went to major areas of Osogbo to campaign for the SDP whereby distrupting free flow of traffic in and around the city.

The exited youths said the peaceful demonstration was in support of their fellow youth, the running mate of Senator Iyiola Omisore, describing the inclusion of a youth by the party as a welcome development.

The rally, described as “Victory Walk” was organized by a group, YOUTH ARISE and it took off from Technical College Playing Ground and terminated at the SDP party Secretariat at Ogo Oluwa Area, Osogbo.

The youth group discribed the rally/walk as a revolution against the present administration in the state, as the youths in the state condemn in strong terms the policies of Governor Rauf Aregbesola government.

At major junctions and bus stops, several youths took their turn to register their displeasure against the present government and declared support for Lawal and SDP.

The demonstrating youths walked through Okefia, Old Garage, Ajegunle, Igbona, Ayetoro, Sabo, Ahmadiyya, Oja Oba, Jaleoyemi, and lastly, Ogo Oluwa.

The youths were seen holding placards with different messages registering their displeasure against what they termed as the bad policies of the present day government.

They demanded for free, fair and credible poll from INEC and said the will of the people of Osun must prevail.

Addressing the youths, the convener of the YOUTH ARISE , Dr Damilola Adewale said youths across the state were elated at the choice of Lawal’s selection as the deputy governorship candidate of the SDP.

Adewale said the youths have resolved to throw their weight behind the 36 years old young man, whom he described as the beacon of hope for the youths.

Adewale who berated how the youths in the state have been sidelined in the recent time said a ray of hope has however shone on the people of Osun in the candidacy of Senator Omisore’s running mate.

He said, ” the decision to have a youth as a deputy governorship candidate came to Osun youths as a ray of hope and a firm belief in the ideologies of a party like Social Democratic Party, who are actually walking the talk”.

“It is also a deliberate and firm resolve that youths will not be used as tools in the hands of scrupulous politicians and opportunists “.

“The youths of Osun were elated at the choice of Hon Yemi Lawal’s selection as the deputy governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party.”

Addressing the youths, the SDP Deputy Governor Candidate, Lawal, reeled out the plans and programme of the SDP governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore for Osun and the youths in particular.

The youths expressed confidence in Omisore and declared their total support for SDP.

They said they were confident that Omisore led government would consider youths in his government if voted in the September 22nd governorship election in Osun.
