Yoruba Unity Group Meets, Harp On Unity

In order to further foster the lost unity and cordial relationship among the members of the Yorubas in southwest and across the country as well as to firmly uphold unity of purpose, the Yoruba Unity
Group (YUG) has held a meeting at the house of a late political icon Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu in Molete, Ibadan.

Addressing reporters shortly after the meeting, Secretary of the group, Hon J.B Oladele reiterated that the essence of the meeting is to find lasting solutions to the problems and challenges facing unity among the Yorubas in terms of political administration and other areas.

Oladele pointed out that YUG a group which is ready to bring back and unify the race as it was in the past.

He observed that there are lot of strategies that can be used by the group so as to promote the personal development of members do the group especially in terms of awareness.

His words “The group is fully ready to get people informed and carry everyone along and ensure the Yorubas in the southwest as well as across the nation are binded by love”

Speaking further, he said the YUG also aims for equity and good representation among the Yorubas.

Discussions at the meeting centered on the way forward as well as how to set up a constitution drafting committee that will comprise 7 members for the group.

The nominated names are Him Oladele, Secretary of the group, Hon Olasupo, Hon Ogunsade, Hajiya Fateemah, Mr Kiyesi, Mr Yakubu Tolase and Mrs Adekanbi from Oyo town.

Earlier in an address, the founder and national Cordinator, Hon Folasade Oludara Odunjo said people of like minds who are progressively minded and lovers of Yoruba heritage are expected to join the YUG, stating that the group is apolitical.

She explained further that YUG has nothing to do with politics and remains an apolitical organization.

Odunjo also stressed that YUG will soon organise a rally to create more awareness, show the readiness of the group and to sensitise the Yorubas to wake up from their slumber.

The meeting also deliberated on how committees, offices and positions will be shared to enhance coperation as well as publicity committee, social committee, welfare committee and auditing committee. Position; organising secretary 1&2, publicity secretary 1&2 with the Office of the state chairmen inclusive.
