Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Owo in conjunction with other unions, Dr Bolarinwa Olawale, the President Association of Resident Doctors frowned at the occasion of politicizing the cases of abduction that occurred recently.

According to him, he said that in a situation whereby civil servants in the course of going to their places of work are kidnapped, heavy ransoms paid with the victims and their families left a state of psychological, emotional and financial problems would be unacceptable to them.

In view of this, Dr. Olawale however called on the state governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as a matter of urgency to beef up of security apparatus being the Chief Security officer in the state.

It would be recalled that a pregnant medical doctor alongside with two other staff of Federal Medical Centre, Owo were recently kidnapped and later released after a few days following the payment of heavy ransoms.

Olawale said, “In view of this, we are lending our voices to the cry of (NMA), NBA in Ondo state that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu should please ensure the beefing up of security apparatus in the state.

“While appreciating the efforts of the security agencies in the state for their swift response, we wish to state unequivocally that we may not be able to guarantee industrial harmony if the government refuses to put in place visible and effective measures which will help curb the activities of these kidnappers”, he said.

The Resident Doctors President however said that appropriate measures should put in place to forestall further nefarious acts of kidnapping in Ondo state.
