Group Accuses Irewole LG’s Chair Of Anti-Party, Double Standard

A socio-political group, United Action Forum, UAF, Ikire Chapter, Osun state has accused the Chairman of Irewole Local Government, Remi Abass, of working for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, while still in the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a release signed by the Chairman of UAF and State Coordinator of Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation (BOCO), Dr Lere Ajewumi, the group alleged that the LG Chairman also reports all the activities of the APC to the PDP.

The group also flayed the embattled Chairman of criminal diversion of funds as he continued to pay former aide, who had been defected to PDP before the September 22 governorship election with money meant for his present personal assistant.

“At exactly 10am on Thursday 1/11 a PDP customised vehicle driven by a former Personal Assistant (PA) to the Chairman of Irewole Local Government, Ikire entered the Council Secretariat, the seat of APC controlled government for an unknown mission.

“The former PA alighted from the PDP vehicle and was said to have gone straight to the chairman’s office. The former PA was reported to have had several hours of meeting with the chairman.

“What attracted the attention of observers was the fact that the former PA had defected from APC to PDP with one-time APC self-acclaimed leader in Ikire (Mr Peter Babalola), and had resigned his appointment as PA to the current Council chairman. The question people were quick to ask was “what could he be doing in the council with PDP CUSTOMISED VEHICLE?

“Further investigation revealed that the salary due to the present PA to the Chairman is equally shared by the two PAs (former and current) every month.
This action of the PA and the Council Chairman was not only provocative; it was suspicious and tantamounts to shooting APC at the back, to say the least. It also proved right the rumours gaining ground that the Chairman of the APC controlled LG was a black ship reporting all activities of the APC to his avowed mentor and political benefactor who is currently in PDP.

“It also proved right the allegations that when Peter Babalola was dumping APC, he instructed his stungies/followers holding political offices to stay put in APC, but that they should work for PDP in the last guber election, assuring them that their positions had been reserved in PDP. Now, could this visit of former PA not be termed as strategising for the coming elections?”, Ajewumi asked.
