Breaking: Labour Suspends Planned Strike
By Jide Afolabi, Jos
The organised labour has suspended the planned industrial action in the country.
The strike was expected to commence by 12 am today, Tuesday but the marathon meetings held yesterday by the government and the labour leaders have necessitated this new development.
According to the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Peter Ozo-Eson, the tripartite committee report would be submitted to the President, Muhammadu Buhari today, Tuesday.
The NLC, however, directed its members to await further directives from the body in case the government reneges on the agreed 30, 000 naira minimum wage.
The organised labour comprising Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Trade Union Congress, TUC, and the United Labour Congress, ULC, have earlier mobilised their members for a nationwide strike.
