A Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, Engr.Abiola Olaniyan has described as worrisome, the spate of violence in Ibadan and some parts of the country and advised the stakeholders in security to be more committed to their duties.

He pointed out that if this negative incident persisted ,it might be a threat to the success of next year’s elections.

Olaniyan in a press statement issued in Ibadan commended the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Isiaka Adetunji Aje Ogungunniso for his remark when the state Commissioner of Police visited him on the violence at OKE Ado,Foko and other parts of the metropolis  adding that the monarch has spoken the minds of his subjects.

The Senatorial aspirant   for Oyo central constituency was of the view that the present administration was handling the issue of security with levity adding that that was why the PDP was unrelenting in its call for restructuring which would favour state police among other advantages.

“Imagine the incessant killings of innocent citizens by Fulani herders recently in Benue State as if life means nothing in Nigeria and the slow action of the Federal Government. Also despite the claim of victory over Boko Haram terrorism, incidents of bomb blasts in religious houses persist in the North East. This government apparently lacks focus and should be replaced next year” He said.

The politician wondered why it took so long for the Presidency to visit Benue state describing the belated speech of Garba Shehu, the Presidential spokesman as medicine after death.

On the controversy regarding just controlled petrol scarcity which unleashed hardship on the masses for weeks,Olaniyan called on the Federal government to make its position known in time adding”conflicting media report on price in crease or no increase is confusing to the public.

He pleaded with the leadership of PDP to put its house in order adding “it is in unity that we can flush out this government that relish in propaganda to catch the votes of the innocent masses and keep them in poverty”

Olaniyan advised religious leaders and monarchs to resist the temptation of being dragged into partisan politics which,he believed, was not good for their exalted positions.
