The Osun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed that the calibre of persons who have indicated interest to clinch the party ticket for the September 22nd gubernatorial election in the state are far better than those of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

For the Osun PDP, it’s parades some of the finest breed of politicians who have risen to the zenith of their chosen career and have demonstrated great capacity for management of human and material resources in various fields of endeavour in a period spanning between one and two decades.

The opposition party argued this while berating the state chairman of the APC, Mr Gboyega Famodun over some “unsavory comments ” the latter made against the aspirants of the PDP.

According to a statement made available by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Sunday Bisi on Monday, “those disparaging comments credited to the APC chairman confirm the fact that the ruling party in Osun state is indeed headed by a man who has no knowledge and no respect for truth and decency in political discourse.

“It unfortunately exposes Mr Famodun’s ignorance about the true state of the educational, business, career and political pedigree of the aspirants who have indicated interest in governing Osun State on the PDP platform beginning from November this year.

“Our party is proud to have among its governorship aspirants Professors of repute, Senior Advocates in Law, Business moguls and Successful entrepreneurs, tested financial experts, distinguished legislators with enviable family pedigree and vibrant social crusaders.”

Comparing it’s aspirants to the state Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who is an APC leader in the state, PDP claimed that the governor did not make any contribution to the field of human endeavour before joining politics.

The party maintained that Aregbesola destroyed the state in 7 years stressing that the governor could not boast of any record in the private sectors in contrast to the aspirants its presently parades.

“Unlike the present state Governor who has run the state aground in 7 years, all PDP aspirants have verifiable means of livelihood outside of politics.

“We challenge Mr Famodun to tell us Aregbesola’s record of service in the private sector before joining party politics in Lagos state.

“What contribution did Aregbesola make to any field of human endeavour before being made a commissioner in Lagos state?

“By the comments of Mr Famodun, it is obvious that the APC is feeling intimidated by the impeccable profile of our Governorship aspirants and the imminent defeat of his gang of political misfits in the forthcoming elections.

“We will however not be distracted by his constant display of political naivety but rather concentrate on galvanizing the masses of Osun state to give the APC it’s final red card on this 22nd of September.

One thing we are sure of is that Osun state will never again suffer the misfortune of having this crop of incompetent and corrupt hands at its helm of affairs,” PDP stated.
