Excerpts

Tell us about you, your background, who is Onilewura Alimi Bolaji?

Thank you. My name is Onilewura Alimi Ismaila Mobolaji. I was born and bred in Osogbo but in the wisdom of my parents, I attendend my primary and secondary schools in Lagos. My father was from Ile Oriaye, a former Chief Imam while my mother is from the popular Matanmi Royal family in Osogbo. After schools, at the tender age of 23, I traveled to Sweden for a greener pastures and after well over 27 years of hard works, I decided to move back home. I served as the President of Nigeria Families Association for 2 years in Sweden, where I coordinate the activities of Nigerians and their families in the Country. I was relating directly and working hand in hand with the Nigerian Mission in the country for the welfare and well-being of my members, I also own my private business, a successful Transport company in Sweden with 20 staffs. Here in nigeria, I am a car dealer, I do most of my car business in Osogbo, I have car lot here and I am also into Properties developments and management, I am also a hotelier, to the glory of God, I own Amiras Paley Hotel in Lagos.

Apart from my primary assignment of lawmaking and oversight as a federal legislator, so to speak, I will work assiduously with my team more on youths capacity developments because they are the future of our nation. I will give my people adequate representation.

How will you rate the outgoing administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in the State of Osun?

I wonder why people do condemn Ogbeni Aregbesola’s administration. For me, he did excellently well. Osun is not what it used to be when we were growing up. One impotant facility any country can be boast of in the World is good roads, to move goods and services from point A to point B, and that is there. Apart from roads which had opened up many odd places for business, we have good scholols too with serene and conducive environment for teaching and learning, with highly equipped library, laboratory, toilet and office facilities and where elementary students are being fed once with quality food and fruits a day among other things I have seen and learnt, with the paucity of funds in the State, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola has performed excellently well as a governor in the State of Osun.

Why do you think you are the best man to represent Osogbo Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber?

Before I venture into things, I do research about them so that there will not a record of huge failure like the old and usual stories and based on that, I have gone round my constituency and asked what are proplems of our people; the youths, the women, the Children, the elders, the vulnerable and the most vulnerables. I found that every problems boil down to inadequate representation at all levels. My people bitterly complained that it is only when elections come that we; politicians remember them. Apart from my primary assignment of lawmaking and oversight as a federal legislator, so to speak, I will work assiduously with my team more on youths capacity developments because they are the future of our nation. I will give my people adequate representation.

We will create workshops in the four local governments under my constituency where youth can come up with different ideas, and show their skills on what they can do and they can do it better, we will introduce small welfare group that will be called “Good Samaritan” that will be reaching out to our youths and women to know their needs at a particular period and how to empower them constructively for them to self reliant and sufficient. We will introduce our youths back to farm works in an attractive manner with a small micro financing to support them which our market men/women will also benefit from. At the moment, we are building one of such workshops at Oke Baale, Osogbo, it will be opened very soon for operation. This is to show how serious we are and our intentions to do things differently.

What will be your next line of action if your party; APC denies you ticket to fly its flag?

I know our great party; APC will not deny me ticket just the you mentioned it. But for equity, justice, fairness, fair play, unity and development of the party, I am not allowed to fly the party’s ticket now, there is always another time, I will wait for my time to come, I will continue to work for the progress, development of our party, I will contribute immensely to the successful ending of Aregbesola’s administration to end well with fine legacies and I will be there for the actualisation of same for the incoming administration, we have got more and great works to do. But I believe by the special grace of God, I will fly the flag of our party this time because I have paid my dues and I understand the rudiment of legislative works, I understand the principle and ideologies of progressiveness in our party, hence I am the best man for the job. Hence I don’t think I will be denied the ticket but if they say no, not now eventually, I will be very loyal and respectful to the APC.

What should people be expecting of Oyetola’s administration?

I think there has been high level misunderstanding of the person of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and that is quite unfortunate, I have him in person for a while, he is a complete gentleman who maintains high level integrity and dignity, he attach so importance to his name and conducts, he is a good listener, a leader by example, a seasoned administrator and an successful businessman. I think we are very lucky to have him and like Aregbesola, Oyetola believes in the welfare and well-being of the people and that is the ultimate goal of any government. Because he has been part of the outgoing administration fully, he can only do better in building on the good governance foundation as laid by Aregbesola according to the manifesto of our great party; APC.
