Women Group Embarks On Skill Acquisition In Oyo

In a bid to reduce poverty in Ibadan North west local government and Oyo state, A non governmental organization, Union for Virtuous women has promised to train over 100 people on 20 vocational skills.
The Founder of the group, Mrs Bola Fatoki said the free training Programme was part of her corporate social responsibility to the state and reduce poverty in the society.
According to Mrs Fatoki, the era of white collar jobs has gone hence the need for people to be practically involved in vocational skills for the advancement of the country.
She said,Union for virtuous women would not relent in its efforts at ensuring better society through empowering youths on skill acquisition.
Mrs Fatoki also urged the trainees to utilize the skill acquired from the Programme to improve their status in life.
Teaching the participants on POP Abestors and the making of  Ankara Adire, the Alakola of Akola -Ijesha, Oba Festus Adeyemo said the only way the country can tackle the problem of unemployment is through vocational knowledge.
He explained that, apart from his little educational background, most of his achievement in life today is through vocational skills he acquired some years ago.
Earlier in his address,Reverend Steve Ogunbode of First Baptist church Idikan lauded Mrs Bola Fatoki for deeming it fit necessary to teach the youths how to fish.
Reverend Ogunbode explained that the economy of the country would have been better than this if priority was given to skill acquisition.
Some participants appreciated Mrs Bola Fatoki for her passion to transform the lives of people positively.
The event which had in attendance Oba Michael Oyedeji, Ologbon of Ile- Igbon Ijesa also featured Practical demonstration of Ankara Adire and POP Abestors making.
