Security: Ondo NSCDC Trains 74 Personnel On Weapon Handling

No fewer than 74 personnel have been trained on weapon handling in order to enhance security in the state by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command.

Mr Pedro Awili, NSCDC state commandant disclosed this at the weekend during the passing out parade ceremony of the personnels held in the 32 Artillery Owena cantonment in Akure.

His words, “Today being the first week of the June 2018, we just passed out 74 of our officers who have been involved in four months vigorous on weapon handling training exercise.

“It is not a news in the country today that security issues is now the order of the day,so with this we are intended to properly positioning our personnel for the task ahead to enhance the effectiveness of our personnel toward security problems.

“Aside the general election that is at the corner, we want to position our men to tackle issues relate to insurgency, terrorism, kidnapping and cultism across the state.

“It will also help us to checkmate activities of those who are into sharp practise in the oil industry”.

The NSCDC commandant, therefore, thanked the Nigeria Army for their collaboration synergy with the Ondo NSCDC for the training of corps in the state.

According to him, Nigeria Army has been training men of NSCDC all over the federation right from the section of the corps.

“Our partnership with Nigeria Army has started along time ago for training our men in all over the country. And history has repeated itself today by the 323 artillery brigade,Owena cantonment that involved in four months vigorously training of our men,”he said.

Awili admonished the trainees to ensure that they are not molest the member of the public with their arms and it should be proper handle.saying that the arms was a Federal Government property.

“This arms should be handle very well by trainees and we don’t want to hear something like accidental discharge or molest member of public with it,”he warned.

In his speech, Brig-Gen. J.A Ataguba, cantonment commander, who was represented by Lt.Mufutau Alimi, Quarter Master said that the training was covers on how to handle AK 47 rifle,IS, Core value and rule of engagement for NSCDC personnel.

Ataguba who appaluded the participants for their conduct during the training said that their performances was above the average.

“Today is the passing out of NSCDC personnel that were trained on weapon handling which was held at 323 AR.The course started four months ago with the total of 74 participants.

“Though the period of the course was short due to other engagement, but the conduct of the students was satisfactory considering their performance as it is above average,” he said.

He,therefore, assured the NSCDC for more cooperation and partnership to train and retraining of the corps.

Two of the trainees, DCIC Ayibinu Ogunsuyi and DSC Abiodun Aminu, thanked the Commander General and State Commandant for given them opportunity and gesture to participate in the training.

“We want to tell others who are not involved in the training should endeavour to participate in next training because anybody that wanted to go higher in this job must come for this training.

“As we all know that insecurity is everywhere, though there are possibility of decapitating them but we still need more men to come for this kind of training so that this country will be a safe heaven for everybody,” they said.
