The Alliance of Collaborating Political Parties, ACPP, has advised the Governor elect in Osun state, Alhaji Gboyegaa Oyetola, to run an inclusive government and regard the entire state as his constituency.

The group at a press conference on Monday, urged Oyetola not to be Governor of APC or the communities and local government areas where he won the election.

The Chairman of ACPP, Prince Adesoji Masilo, advised Oyetola to begin accelerated development of the state and choose carefully, persons that will add value to his government.

He stressed the need for the Governor elect to carry everybody along in his government, warning that people would react if Oyetola fail to run inclusive government.

“We appalled at the monetization of this election by the PDP. While the rest of us were busy fashioning out strategy on how to connect with the people, PDP was busy spending money to buy voters cards, buy votes and corruptly influence security and electoral officials.

While commending INEC for the free conduct of the election, ACPP said “we are not unaware of some lapses, including the bogus votes returned in Ede, Iwo and Ile-Ife. The result from Ede, we note with sadness, is more than the registered voters.

“We wholeheartedly endorse this election and its outcome as legitimate and a reflection of the true wishes of the people of Osun.

“We must let you know that appalled at the monetization of this election by the PDP. while the rest of us were busy fashioning out strategy on how to connect with the people, busy was busy spending money to buy voter cards, buy vote and corruptly influenced security and electoral officials. This is condemnable and we condemn it in its entirety.”

“Two issues became extant after the election. The first was the declaration of the election inconclusive after the first ballot, necessitating a supplementary section in seven units. Some believed there should be no rerun. We disagree with them. From the rerun, it was clear that the disenfranchised voters after the first ballot ultimately determined the election when there votes were added. The principles is therefore justified.”

“At any rate, there are enough precedents in which elections were declared inconclusive, in order not to disenfranchised legitimate voters and the election were concluded after they voted.”

“The second is the role of law enforcement agencies. There were reports that thugs and fake voters were brought into Osun from Kwara state. Many of them impersonated journalists, observers and voters. They were warehoused in schools and hotels belonging to PDP members.

“Police and other law enforcement agencies were tipped off and they stopped them. From Police official release, 16 card carrying members of PDP pretending to be observers, journalists and voters were found in possession of INEC accreditation and other insignia of election observers, and PVCs not issued to be used in the voting units and were arrested. The law enforcement agents are therefore justified in stopping any one or acts capable of tarnishing the election and eroding from its legitimacy.”

“We congratulate the winner, Gboyega Oyetola. We urge him to run an inclusive government and regard the entire state as his constituency. He will be Governor of the state, not just APC members or the communities and local government areas where he won.”
