Open Letter To My Ex-wife At 50

_Dear Bolaji Makinde,_

Trust this message meets you well, there was a time when we both wanted to spend our lives together, followed by a time when we could stand each other, working together. Growing steadily in NNPC was a great experience, raising our lovely children under same roof was to be our target. There was a time when unhappiness unveils but now we have realized that we weren’t meant to be together as husband and wife. We were just incompatible and not meant to journey life as husband and wife, Exactly three years before we parted ways was also your birthday under my roof, your 40th was full of pageantry with both of us dancing together with songs of Dayo Kujore, SSP, Atorise and Wale Barrister.

At early stage of your divorce you choose the path of destiny to draw the marital curtain at 43. Today is another birthday and a missed anniversary for me to be candid. Happy birthday to my ex.
I will not lie, I will admit. Yes I am still sad, about the way we split. It is still painful, to call you my ex-wife. But I am still glad, that you were part of my life. Not just that, but your progress brings me more joy and happiness.

The success of Aregbesola at the court of appeal on that same date of ur birthday in 2010 killed the sorrowful and traumatic experience in my heart*_

Love was the reason for our marriage. Hate was the reason for our divorce. Our marriage was consumed exactly Dec 17th 1994 at Ibukun cinema Abeokuta. The chairman, the best man,the best lady and numbers of our loved ones who pulled crowd at our wedding still wonder but me and you know why we have to keep mute and that I hope to maintain for the sake of our innocent fruits of that union.

Let’s forget all those reasons and let a smile be the reason for our friendship.
Our marriage broke apart but we never behaved like nasty exes and enemies. I am glad that we have done justice to our memories. _*Happy birthday once again Bolaji Morufat Abiose*_

If our life had come with instructional manual, I am pretty sure you would have acted differently, Not many would even know that we parted long before my electoral victory and before meeting my new adventure in marriage.., I always agree , appreciate and celebrate you using * MRS MAKINDE* as your surname despite all that transpired between us. No objection…. I will follow the adage which says – _*”suffers,he who does not forget”*_.

Our divorce has caged us both in a prison of bitter memories. Your 50th birthday seems like the perfect day to break free from the shackles of our past and look towards an amicable future. I cannot but appreciate God for blessing me with a knowledgeable woman with outstanding endurance mind to console me from loneliness which might have taken my life at early stage after our departure.

_Wishing you Happy 50th Birthday Anniversary and House Warming Ceremony in sound health Bolaji.._

God knows better than human beings and this is the reason why we need to abide with our fate.

Honourable Rotimi Makinde
