Police Arrest Seven Suspected Armed Robbers In Ondo

Ondo State police command has arrested seven suspected armed robbers allegedly terrorizing the people of the state.

Parading the suspects at the Police headquarters in Akure yesterday,
the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju said the suspects
were arrested in different parts of Akure, the state capital.

Among the seven suspects were Kayode Yakubu, a 22 year old student who
allegedly specialized in phone theft, victor Ologun who allegedly stole a generating set, Ayodeji Bamidele and Sunday Joseph.

The Police commissioner explained that three suspected robbers had.allegedly robbed a firm in Akure and upon investigations by the police Joseph and Bamidele were arrested.

He said both Bamidele and Joseph were caught with the stolen generating set
where they were negotiating with an intending buyer, adding that the two suspects had confessed to be leaders of a robbery gang in the state.

The Police boss who valued the generator to worth #2.5million said efforts are on by the police to arrest other members of the robbery gang who are currently at large.

Some of the items recovered from the suspects according to Adeyanju were one locally made gun, phones of various brands, charms and knives among other dangerous weapons.

He also hinted that a suspected robber who specialized in stealing phones was arrested in Ikare-Akoko, saying that the suspect had stolen not less than 10 mobile phones.

The Police commissioner assured that all the suspects would be charged to court and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
