Youth Tasked To Be Agents Of Positive Change

A Former Deputy Governor of Ogun State and Member of the 7th Senate, Senator Adegbenga Kaka says it is imperative for youth to be agent of positive change for the overall development of the country.

Senator Kaka stated this at the first Annual lecture of Movement for Good Governance Initiative held at the NUJ Hall of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State in Ibadan.
The Chairman of the occasion explained that Nigerian Youths have crucial roles to play in the sustainability of democracy and development of the country at large.
Senator Kaka who is a former commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State called on Youths to be actively involved in Agriculture which was neglected by the immediate past government in Nigeria.
He emphasized the need for government to intensify more efforts in its diversification drive from Crude Oil to Agriculture, Solid minerals and other underutilized resources.
In his lecture titled Nigeria and its Quest for Credible Leadership, the Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Dr Gbade Ojo said with credible leadership in the country, Nigeria may not need to be restructured.
Dr Ojo who was represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Hon Abiodun Ambali called for more Youth participation in the current political dispensation.
He noted that corruption which has eaten deep into virtually all sectors of the economy has also affected leaders.
Dr Ojo said the task of ensuring a better Nigeria can not be left in the hands of government alone hence the need for people to cooperate with government in its programmes.
The Guest Lecturer also urged Youths to contribute their quota towards ensuring good governance in Nigeria.
In his remarks, the Oyo state NUJ Chairman, Comrade Adewumi Faniran commended the MGGI for the initiative and urged them not to be discouraged in their quest for credible leaders in the country.
Also, a philanthropist and Politician Chief Femi Olaore, Member, Bring Back Our Girls Campaign group, Princess Adebisi Sangodoyin, Onyedu Ndigbo of Ibadan land, Alloysious Obi, an Islamic Scholar, Prof Sabitu Olagoke and a renowned Christian cleric enjoined Youths to be focused and be good ambassadors of the country.
The convener, Movement for Good Governance Initiative, Comrade Lekan Shobowale said the group was established to contribute its quota to the development of the country.
He stressed that the movement provided a platform for youths to rub minds on how they can move the country forward.
