Speaking at the palace of Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole weekend, the Aare Ona Kakanfo designate said he intends to work with traditional rulers and everybody that he needs to work with, to ensure the Unity of Yoruba race and progress of the country at large.

Insisting that he will do “everything within my power to ensure this” Adams said he was one of the people who played major roles in the fight for the enthronement of democracy being enjoyed in the country, adding that nothing is too much to do for the sustenance of the hard earned process.

He said he intends to use the advantage the position is offering to foster unity among the people to enable progress, because, according to him “little could be achieved in the face of disunity and injustice.”

Welcoming the Aare Ona Kakanfo to his palace, the Olu Ilaro said he saw the visit as a great honour.

He stressed that the Aare Ona Kakanfo title is not a title of a town or its functions limited to a town or city, but for the entire Yoruba land, adding that the title shares the same origin with Ilaro.

According to the paramount ruler of Yewa land, “whatever that comes from Oyo is automatically ours in Ilaro because that is where we come from. Alaafin is a peculiar Oba to us in Ilaro and I want to use this opportunity to thank him for his choice of Gani Adams as Aare Ona Kakanfo”.

Describing Adams as a man of valour, the Olu of Ilaro said he got a taste of this quality in the Aare Ona Kakanfo at the last CONFAB where they were both members.

The Oba prayed for a good reign for the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo while he praised him for his activities in the area of promotion of culture and tradition.

He mentioned that Adams will chair the 2018 edition of the popular Orona festival in Ilaro. The current year’s edition is still being marked in the town as the celebration kicked off earlier in the week.

According to the Oba who promised to be present at the January 13th Installation ceremony of the Aare Ona Kakanfo in Oyo town, it will be the Silver Jubilee of his Orona festival in 2018
