The Chairman, Ede Federal Constituency of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Chief Gbadebo Alao has asserted that the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party in the July 8 Osun West Senatorial By-Election, Otunba Ademola Adeleke was never a member of the APC.

Chief Alao said the brother to the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke who represented the district in the senate till his demise in April is just a party supporter and not a member.

Alao who bared this while featuring on a political interview programme on a private radio station, Rave Fm in Osogbo on Monday also addressed the eligibility and disqualification issues that engulfed the Screening of Aspirants for the by-election.

He said “The constitution of our party is clear on eligibility. I had Akinola Omolaoye from my hometown who wanted to contest. I made him remember he was a national ex-officio of the APC and that he is constrained to contest less than 30 days to an election without resigning earlier.”

“That was what brought him down. Let me tell you, when we checked our records at his Ward 08, Abogunde/Sagba, his name was not there. He thought he had became a member of our party due to the fact that He followed his brother when he joined APC and danced Skelewu with him during our campaigns. That was what he used to do.”

“And because he is not a member of our party, he had made up his mind to defect before he even bought the form from Abuja. If we continue with Hussain, he would be able to complete 8 years and we will be able to perfect the zoning arrangements there for the next election.”

On eligibility, “The constitution is very clear. It is only a party exco that the law stipulates for him to resign 30 days before the election. This is to allow for a neutral disposition in selecting our candidates for elections because of their influence.”

“But on Hussain’s case, he was only a political office holder and not a pary executive either in the state or at national level. Tambuwal was in the House of Representatives when he Won and Lost and picked his intent form. Had it gone otherwise, Tambuwal would have not left the Reps ticket to anybody in his state just that.”
