Senator representing Kaduna Central District, Senator Shehu Sani has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to quit his position as Minister of Petroleum and appoint substantive minister whom the nation can hold accountable to the happenings in the nation oil industry.

Sani who informed that President Buhari’s position as a minister of petroleum can drag him into issues in the oil sector of which he has limited time to attend to, cautioned that a broom immersed in oil cannot sweep clean.
The comrade senator who took to tweeter stated this in reaction to the leaked memo from the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu to President Muhammadu Buhari against the corrupt practices of the NNPC Group Managing Director, Maikanti Baru.
CityMirrorNews recalls that that Ibe Kachikwu has accused the NNPC Group Managing Director of procedural misdeed including but not limited to; corruptly awarding contracts to the tune of $25billion without recourse to due process and insubordination.
Senator Sani while proverbially reminding that the mess in the oil commission is monumental and tasking, said when a garbage piled to a heap, it needs more of a spade than a broom”.
According to the senator, “President Buhari should disengage from being a Petroleum Minister and appoint a substantive minister whom the nation can hold accountable to the happenings in the nation oil industry. The President position as a minister can drag him into issues in the oil sector of which he has limited time to attend to. A broom immersed in oil cannot sweep clean.

CityMirrorNews further recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday held a closed door meeting with the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu and the purpose of the meeting was not made know as the minister came out of the meeting without a word to the newsmen who were itching to get a word from him.
It is believed that the issued discussed in not unconnected to the memo on the activities in the oil commission.
