All may be set for the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Lasun Yussuff to declare his ambition to run for the governorship seat of Osun State come 2018.

Findings by CityMirrorNews correspondent reveal that Lasun and some of his allies are already making peace moves to consult leaders of the All Progressives Congress within and outside the state before making the pronouncement.

A source in Lasun’s camp confided in our correspondent that the Deputy Speaker has concluded arrangements to meet the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo to arrange a parley between him and the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It was gathered that the truce being sought by Lasun is to get the endorsement of these key APC leaders to support his 2018 ambition.

According to the source, there is also a master plan to involve some key leaders of the opposition in the state to work for the Deputy Speaker as some may work hand-in-hand with him to realize the goal.

At several meetings, rallies and political engagements of Lasun Yussuff, the 1st Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament had said that ” He would  contest the guber polls in 2018.”

The source however expressed fears that Lasun’s move may not sail through as he is from the central senatorial district of the state aside the West District popularly touted by many to produce the next governor of the 26 year old state.

“We all know that Oyinlola and Baba Akande who are all former governors are from the central district, Ogbeni Aregbesola who is in power now comes from the East. What everybody is talking about now is the West. I”m not sure if he will sail through.

Another chieftain of the APC who spoke on condition of anonymity expressed reservations how “Lasun who with his acts has caused division within the party because of his ambition will be given the ticket.”

He said “Since he (Hon Lasun Yussuff) and Fatai Diekola started their home based movement, they have unsettled the APC, which was evident in the last Osun West By-election which our party lost.”
