Ooni Storms Awujale Palace in his Unity Visit

***As Awujale advises him to be Wary of Toady Politicians

The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, on Friday advised Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11 to be cautious of politicians, sycophants and cheerleaders because they will lead him astray.

Oba Adetona noted that the Ooni’s resolve to work for the unity and progress of yorubaland is a worthy cause, but counseled him to be cautious in dealings with the nation’s politicians and their tendencies for division.

The Awujale gave the advice at his Ijebu – Ode Palace, when Oba Ogunwusi paid him a historical and maiden visit in a company of dozens of Ife traditional rulers, chiefs, palace aides and drummers.

Oba Adetona who expressed joy to Ooni of Ife whom he described as a very thorough bred human being advised him to shy away from history distortment from anybody, undue government influence and praise singers.

According to him, “Our paramount aim is to speak the minds of our people and  provide social amenities”

While acknowledging the role played by the late Ooni o Ife ,Oba (Sir) Adesoji Aderemi for the mutual respect that existed before, Oba Adetona said, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi is man of history whom his reign as a paramount king in Yorubaland will be fruitful.

The Oni of Ife, had in his effort to ensure total peace among Yoruba nation, embarked on his unity visit to all the traditional monarchs in Yoruba land which he had begun with Alaaafin of Oyo in the recent time.

Ooni of Ife who was in company of all traditional rulers in Ifeland was received by over 28 traditional rulers in Ijebuland, Otunbas and many business moguls who are sons of Ijebuland.

Speaking, his Imperial Majesty explained that there is a need for all members of Yoruba nation to come together and defend their rights.

“Yoruba must acknowledge its values and be in unity in other to develop and promote the Yoruba land”.

“Am not here for supremacy battle because all of us belong to one God and the King of Kings to whom we will all be accountable”. Ooni said

Oba Ogunwusi further explained that his visit is mainly to acknowledge Oba Adetona as one of the paramount kings in Yorubaland whose wisdom and experience is most needed in unifying all sons and daughters of Yoruba.

“I will be closer to Oba Adetona to solicit his support in the campaign of unity and peace I started” Ooni said.

It would be recalled Ooni had stated in his condolence message on Olubadan a week ago that he would have loved to be hosted by the late Olubadan as he would be taking his unity visit which he had begun with Alaaafin to his palace in Ibadan.
